Global Investor

The GIP is a scheme offered by EDB (through its “Contact Singapore” arm) that allows eligible global investors and entrepreneurs to obtain Singapore Permanent Residency (PR) by making substantial investments in Singapore.
 

It is aimed at individuals with strong entrepreneurial / managerial backgrounds and significant business track record, who intend to grow their businesses or capital from Singapore. 

 To qualify, applicants must choose one of the three approved investment routes: 

1. Option A — Invest at least S$10 million (paid-up capital included) in a new or existing business in Singapore. 
2. Option B — Invest S$25 million into a GIP-select fund (i.e. a fund pre-approved by EDB). 
3. Option C — Establish a single-family office in Singapore managing assets of at least     S$200 million, with at least S$50 million deployed locally into approved asset categories.
    

⚠️ Note: For Option B, investments into GIP-select funds are not principal-protected — value may fluctuate with market conditions.
 

As of 5 May 2025, the application fee for GIP is S$20,000. 

 The updated GIP (as of March 2023) aims to attract high-calibre, globally minded business owners and investors likely to contribute significantly to Singapore’s economy.
 

By requiring larger investments, GIP ensures participants are making substantial economic impact — supporting growth of local companies, boosting job creation, and deepening capital flows into sectors that matter for Singapore’s economic future.
 

Between 2011 and 2022, GIP investors helped create nearly 24,700 jobs across various roles (e.g. software engineers, researchers, corporate functions) in Singapore.
